This is because they have no wear or tear on them, so they’ll be reliable and ready to go out of the dealership. However, that peace of mind does come with a premium price-tag.
Used bikes, meanwhile, are much more cheaper. That’s because you’re taking a bit of a risk buying a bike second-hand. These bikes might have varying levels of wear on them, and it can be harder to determine if its been cared for depending on the seller.
Safety
Safety is another element to consider when buying your first motorcycle. New bikes come with the latest technology and safety features. Not only do these make your rides easier on you, but they also help keep you safer. These features can be pretty appealing to new riders who are looking for an extra bit of safety on the road.
Used bikes tend to either not have these features, or be a bit behind on the curve. Again, this is another factor which can make them cheaper, but also a bit more riskier for new riders. Plus, you never know what kind of elements might’ve been tampered with or don’t work as they should.
Your own skills
You also have to consider your own skills when getting your first motorcycle. Mainly, these are your riding and maintenance skills. New bikes can be easier to ride, and tend to require less maintenance. However, accidents on them do tend to be pretty costly.
Used bikes, in comparison, might be harder to ride or require constant upkeep. This can make them a bit more of a hassle rather than enjoyable. Still, if you’re worried about the cost of wrecking an expensive new bike, used bikes might be more appealing.
